Where did 2017 go?! Time certainly flies when you’re having fun. And when you’re doing as much birthday partying, office moving, award winning, Amsterdam busting, digital festivalling and ground-breaking work as we have been this year, fun is rarely in short supply.
Here’s a month-by-month rundown of what we got up to this year.
Our New Year’s Eve hangovers had barely dissipated before our first campaign of the year went live.
Many people look to mitigate the January blues by booking a nice summer holiday. So we created a fun digital campaign across Quidco.com to raise awareness of Quidco’s many great flight, hotel and holiday cashback offers.
Elsewhere, we published our most-read blog post of 2017, aimed at helping marketeers from subscription-based business to attract new subscribers.
Our first campaign for new client Burt’s Bees went live in mid-February. We built a content-rich digital experience that acted as the online ‘hub’ for the UK launch of the brand’s first colour cosmetics products; an 18-strong collection of 100% natural lipsticks.
To herald our growing experience in (and passion for) the beauty sector, we also launched a new blog feature called Beauty In Brief.
The series, which is published fortnightly, focuses on the very latest news in beauty tech and marketing.
We love a good marketing conference for ideas and inspiration. Both were in abundance at Digital Gaggle – one of our favourite events of 2017.
Meanwhile, another new client campaign kicked off this month. Baby and toddler food brand Kiddylicious tasked us with raising awareness of their new Wafers product amongst mums of young babies.
The KPIs around engagement and data capture were resoundingly smashed. A wonderful feeling for any campaign, but particularly for a new client.
But the most exciting development for our team came with our office move. The shift to Riverside Court has really galvanised the whole agency, giving us not only a bigger and better space but the room to realise our ambitious growth plans.
It’s been a completely transformative experience. We love our new home.
April saw the launch of Quidco’s Easter campaign, an addictive digital game offering the chance of cash prizes for those able to keep the pesky hands out of their basket of Easter eggs.
We also relaunched our agency proposition. There’s one thing that binds the many and varied campaigns we create for our clients together. They all inspire and compel their audience to take action. To play, tweet, post or share. To try, subscribe, redeem or purchase.
In other words, we’re experts in creative persuasion.
Our innovation credentials stepped up a notch as we launched a chatbot for Soap & Glory’s website. Automating the most popular and time-consuming queries to the brand’s customer service team has completely revolutionised how they work.
Elsewhere, our relationship with Kiddylicious deepened with the creation of a series of social videos, including this one to raise awareness of the brand’s new Little Bistro range.
Another month, another Quidco campaign. This time we helped their members celebrate the summer sun with a surfing challenge, raising awareness of the great cashback offers across Quidco.com in the meantime.
Speaking of celebrations, we hit the town for a big night out to mark Ready’s 10th birthday!
Clients, friends and family joined us to party the night away, with some nifty little quirks thrown into the event by our digital team.
It took a while, but the excitement of turning 10 years old eventually died down. So we managed to grab some time with our founders Jake and Shane to get their thoughts on ten years in business. Oh how they’ve changed…
More projects flowed through our ever-busy studio, with new work for Universal Orlando Resort, BMJ and BCS flying the nest into the big wide world.
Two new campaigns went live in a particularly busy month at the new Ready Towers.
Quidco’s autumn campaign was a record-breaker, with over 300,000 plays of Nutz For Nuts in the first 24 hours.
We also launched a gamified experience for Kiddylicious, based on a set of ‘Kidmojis’ designed to address the lack of new parent emojis on typical smartphone keyboards.
We partnered with the Beauty Trends & Innovation Conference for the first time, meeting a whole host of new faces in the industry.
And the month was rounded off nicely with a brilliant team trip to Amsterdam!
Inspired by September’s beauty conference, we announced the launch of our first in-depth report into consumer habits in the beauty sector. It was really well received by clients, partners and industry figures alike.
Proving that we’re both style and substance, we promptly launched another fantastic beauty brand campaign. Bubble Or Nothing drove awareness of Soap & Glory’s new bath bomb range in the fun, vibrant manner that Soap & Glory’s fans have come to expect from the brand.
October also saw us host an event as part of Bath Digital Festival, a week of insight into tech innovation in our city.
Our digital director Jake Xu and client Andrew Allen of Quidco discussed how gamification and digital games can help businesses (including Quidco) achieve a wide range of different commercial objectives.
It was really enjoyable, as was the whole festival in fact. Here’s a rundown of our highlights.
Another in-depth article on our blog garnered significant attention. The piece, which explored the challenge of selling fragrance products online, drove a huge spike in traffic to our blog.
Then at the end of the month, we launched Soap & Glory’s Christmas campaign.
This is the fourth year running that we have been appointed to lead the digital activation of their Christmas activity.
The first few days of December saw Christmas campaigns kicking off for three more brands – Kiddylicious, Quidco and new client VoucherCodes.co.uk.
Two more new clients joined the Ready fold. Our first project for haircare brand KMS, saw us build a Facebook app to showcase the brand’s salon partnerships.
We also created a snappy festive video for Zoella Beauty, to promote her Treasure Me Gift Collection.
Oh, and when one of the finest luxury interior design firms around asks you to redesign their website, you know it has to look immaculate. Our digital team did a wonderful job on Roselind Wilson Design’s new site, which went live in early December.
With all that work done and dusted, it was time for our festive celebrations to begin!
We have three Christmas traditions here at Ready. Firstly, rather than a Christmas card, we like to set our clients and friends a fun little challenge. This year’s was a ridiculously addictive game called Ready, Steady, Stack!
Our second tradition is to challenge ourselves with an activity. We’ve done go-karting and trampolining in recent years. This time it was clay pigeon shooting, which was thoroughly good fun!
Thirdly…we hit the town and party!
All in all, it’s been a brilliant, fun and hugely eventful 2017 for all of us here at Ready.
Next year is already shaping up to be just as good. We’ll be welcoming a couple of new recruits, working with the same incredible clients once more and also getting stuck into some great projects for more new ones too.
Happy New Year!
