Welcome to the latest Beauty in Brief, our fortnightly round-up of the latest news in beauty technology and marketing.
This edition features the new RoC campaign, a unisex makeup brand and Walgreens Boots Alliance acquisition.
We love the new RoC campaign highlighting the backhanded compliments older women often receive.
RoC partnered with Wakefield Research to survey women aged 40+. The results confirm women would rather not be complimented at all than receive one paired with “for your age.”
On top of that, over 60% of those surveyed have changed their behaviour after being told their actions weren’t “age appropriate.”
A brand new beauty brand has launched with a unisex and vegan makeup line that celebrates individuality.
Jessica Blackler launched JECCA Makeup with a colour corrector and concealer palette that has been designed specifically for her trans clients. Jessica has plans to launch a full unisex makeup range in the future.
Walgreens Boots Alliance has acquired a 40% stake in Chinese retail pharmacy chain Sinopharm Holding GuoDa Drugstores Co.
GuoDa, established in 2004, is China’s leading pharmacy chain and is the retail platform of state-owned China National Pharmaceutical Group Corporation. It operates more than 3500 pharmacies across 70 cities.
